It all began  in Wichita, Kansas where as a child I was always drawing pictures.
After high school I studied at  the Kansas City Art Institute with a major in Design and a minor in painting.
Upon graduation I worked within the Commercial Art field as a Designer/Illustrator and Art Director,
participating in a variety of creative businesses including publishing,
advertising, catalogs and art studios.

My commercial art career was very interesting and challenging and offered many great learning
experiences that improved my skills over the years but my desire to be a full-time painter has
been continual since I was young.  To follow that dream, I worked constantly in my spare time producing
fine art pieces.  During those years I exhibited at a variety of galleries and shows to receive as
much exposure and feedback as possible.

During my commercial career, I continued my art studies with classes at
the University of Minnesota, MCAD, Metropolitan College and co-op drawing
classes over several years.

Since February, 1999 when I became a full-time artist/painter, I have been able to focus far more
clearly on my artistic skills and direction and there has been a marked improvement in my creative thinking
process and output.  For the past several years my medium of choice has been oils and acrylics and I have
primarily concentrated on three themes: Landscapes of America and Europe’s rural scene, still lifes
composed primarily of interesting arrangements of fruits and vegetables, and the Jazz/Blues
music performance scene focusing on the great performers of these genres during the
30’s-40’s and up to the present time.
